The Wyeast 4028 Red is a Saccharomyces cerevisiae. It is ideal for red or white wines, even though the name suggests only reds. The wines that this is best suited for are ones that mature rapidly with Beaujolais type fruitiness, and/or for bigger reds that require aging. It is low foaming and has low sulfur production over a broad range of temperatures.
