Briess BlackPrinz Malt
BlackPrinz Malt is produced from hulless barley and can function as a 1:1 replacement to debittered black malt but it will have a smoother flavor. Since the husk of malt develops bitter notes during roasting, a dibittered black malt will contribute a certain amount of bitter, astringent or dry flavors or after taste to a beer - but not as much as a traditional black malt. It can be used in any recipe calling for debittered black malt. Blackprinz® Malt delivers colors plus more roasted flavor than Midnight Wheat Malt.

Suggested Beer Styles: Black IPAs, Black Lagers/Schwartzbiers, Black Ales, and other beers for deep, rich color with only hints of subtle roasted flavor; Any beer style for color adjustments
Suggested Usage:
1-2% Minor color adjustment with little to no flavor impact in lighter colored lagers and ales
2-5% Adds color with subtle, smooth flavor
5-10% Use in larger quantities for color plus a mild roasted malty flavor
