Heather Flowers

 Heather Flowers have a flavor that is similar to a subtle chamomile and mint blend yet it encompasses hints of lavender. It blends superbly with honey and can be made into a fantastic Heather Mead or even a straight Heather Wine.

The great benefit of buying the Heather Flowers themselves is the stems will not be included, since the stems will often add a hint of tannic astringency, at low levels it can be tolerable, but in higher gravity beers it makes it extremely unpleasant to drink.

Using Heather in a Scottish Ale is a great way to experiment with the beauty of this herb and they are commonly used in Scotch Ales known as Fraoch.
