Pacifica™ (NZ)
Pacifica™ is a New Zealand aroma hop that has an alpha acid range from 5 to 6% and a beta acid of 5-7%. It is a triploid hop that is sometimes known as Pacific Hallertau. It was crated by NZ Hops Ltd under Cultivar/Brand ID 77-01.
It is a moderate and highly pleasant hop. It is known for its aromatic properties, which are spicy and decidedly floral. This hop has a moderately low cohumulone and higher caryophyllene.
There are also citrus notes present and it can impart aromas of orange when used late in the boil. Sierra Nevada has even used it as a bittering addition.
Pacifica™ has a signature citrus orange zest marmalade aroma with classic Hallertau Mittelfruh characteristics all accented with some floral notes. Orange marmalade and delicate citrus aromas blend with a very old-world warmth that can come across as new-mown hay and honey with tangy hebal and sweet floral notes.
It is a great choice for use in Porters, Pale Ales, Kolsch, Altbiers, and Belgian Ales.
If you are looking for a substitute we recommend Hallertau (US) or Liberty.
