Southern Tropic
Southern Tropic is a South African grown bittering hop that is frequently used as a dual use hop as well. It has an alpha acid range of 12.6-18.1% and a beta acid of 4.61-6.5%. It is known under Cultivar/Brand ID U1/108. It is actually a cross of 80% Southern Aroma and 20% Southern Sublime to create this interesting hop.
Southern Tropic is extremely fruit forward with strong accents of sweet fruit and tropical fruit. The fruit notes come across as mango, lychee, passionfruit, melon, plum, grapefruit and distinctive guava tones. Some describe the aromas and flavors as Kool-Aid or Juicy Fruit like.
It is a great choice for use in any and all Hop Forward Beer Styles.
