A copper-colored, medium-bodied, German-style ale with lots of malt flavor. "Altbier" means "Old Beer" in German. This name comes from the fact that it's fermented with an ale yeast; which lager-loving Germans consider old-fashioned. This beer has a clean, crisp taste, especially for an ale. Hop Bitterness and aroma are moderate, with malt being the primary flavor. This recipe uses two types of imported German hops, combined with a German-Style malt extract and a German yeast strain. This gives much more authentic results than commonly-used British malt extract.

 

All our Beer Kits come in a variety of Formulations with two yeast styles and enough ingredients to make 5 Gallons. You can choose from Malt Extract with Steeping Grains, Partial Mash, and All-Grain. You also can choose between Dry and Liquid Yeast. We recommend purchasing an ice pack for liquid yeast purchases that will be shipped.
