Do you like Theakston's Old Peculier? Ultimate Porter is our most popular porter recipe kit, based on a hard-to-find but fantastically good British porter with a funny name. Ultimate Porter is one of out top 10 best-selling recipe kits. The color is almost opaque black, like a stout, but Ultimate Porter doesn't have the full thick body of a stout. The body is medium, and holding the glass up to light reveals beautiful red highlights in the deep black color. Compared to the ordinary porter, Ultimate Porter has more caramel, chocolate, and coffee-like roasted malt flavors. To make it Ultimate, we've added imported Demerara sugar and a highly-refined version of molasses called Black Treacle. This is a truly dark beer that has changed the minds of people who previously though that they didn't like dark beers, because it's strong and full of flavor but not heavy.
All our Beer Kits come in a variety of Formulations with two yeast styles and enough ingredients to make 5 Gallons. You can choose from Malt Extract with Steeping Grains, Partial Mash, and All-Grain. You also can choose between Dry and Liquid Yeast. We recommend purchasing an ice pack for liquid yeast purchases that will be shipped.
