Extra Special Malt - Briess

Briess Extra Special Roast Malt

Extra Special Malt by Briess is a hybrid drum roasted malt with a very different flavor in comparison to Caramel Malt 120L. This is done from a proprietary drum roasting process that develops both caramel and dry roasted flavors. It is good in high gravity beers like Doppelbocks as well as mid- to dark Belgian Style Ales. It will add complexity to Abbey and darker styles like Irish Stouts and Porters. It alternatively can be used in lighter colored and lighter gravity beers for a rich, complex flavor.
