Paradise Seeds (Grains of Paradise)
Paradise Seeds also known as Grains of Paradise are indispensable when making Belgian Style Ales and some Holiday Ales. They are related to cardamom and native to West Africa, they are sweet and spicy but with a buttery flavor and a hint of lavender and juniper. They will impart a pungent, black pepper like flavor with hints of citrus, coriander and ginger - meaning they had a spiciness that is characteristic of many Belgian Style Ales.
They are known by many different names including Melegueta Pepper, Alligator Pepper, Guinea Grains, Ossame, Fom Wisa, and Guinea Pepper.
