Polaris
Polaris is a German grown dual purpose hop that has an alpha acid range of 18-23% and a beta acid range of 2.5-6.5%. Bred by the Hop Research Institute in Hüll, Germany under Cultivar/Brand ID 2000/109/728 it was released in 2012.
There are aromas of mint, pineapple and cool menthol. Often times there are sweet toffee and banana undertones accented by spicy aromatic elements of cumarin (which is a white vanilla-scented crystalline ester), Artemesia, woodruff, lemon balm and bergamot. Also present in Polaris are fruity quince and pineapple notes.
Polaris is a good choice for your Ales, Pale Ales, Stouts and IPAs.
A possible substitution for Polaris is Herkules.
