Zappa™ is an USA aroma hop that has an alpha acid range from 6 to 9% and a beta acid range of 8-9%. It is a neomexicanus hop and is primarily used in only late boil additions that includes dry hopping. It is owned by CLS Farms and is also known under the Cultivar/Brand ID FZMR2.
It is 100% Humulus lupulus var. neomexicanus and was found wild in the mountains of New Mexico.
Zappa™ is a hop that people either love or hate with its spicy aromas and intense notes of tropical fruit - think mango and passionfruit, as well as notes of citrus and pine. It is truly unlike any other hop and additionally can have notes of savory herbal tones, mint, and Fruity Pebbles.
It is a great choice for use in IPAs, Pale Ales, and Fruited Sours.
Zappa™ is occasionally available in whole leaf hop form.
