Junga (Iunga) (Lunga)
Junga is a Polish grown dual purpose hop that has an alpha acid range of 8.2-14% and a beta acid range of 3.5-8%. Junga is sometimes seen as Iunga or Lunga but they are all the same name for the same hop. While some refer to Junga as a dual purpose hop there is limited potential for aroma or dry hopping use as it contains very high alph acids comparable to Magnum (GR). There is not much taste but it is a great bittering hop.
The aromas that are expressed come across as blackcurrant, grapefruit and spice notes. There is strong notes of pineapple, peach and citrus mixed together with the intense sweet aromas of honey.
Junga is a good choice for your Imperial Stouts, Porters, Pale Ales, Brown Ales, California Commons, IPAs, Fruity Ales, and Singe Hop Beers.
It could possibly be substituted with Nugget (US)/Nugget (BC), Target or Galena.
Co-Humulone as % of Alpha Acids: 29-34%
