Nugget (US)
Nugget is a USA grown dual purpose hop that is primarily used as a bittering hop that has an alpha acid range from 9.5 to 16% and a beta acid of 3-6%. It was released under the Cultivar/Brand ID 7005-194.
It is an excellent high alpha bittering potential.
Nugget has mild pleasant and herbal aromas that are reminiscent of tea with chamomile, ginger and hay all accented with lemon, pineapple and notes of cream and caramel. There is sweet lychee, pineapple and plum notes that are complemented by floral elderflower and geraniums.
It is a great choice for use in American Craft Styles, Ales, Stouts, Barleywines, Saisons, Biere de Gardes, IPAs, Lagers, Pilsners, Pale Ales, and ESBs.
If you are looking for a substitute we recommend Galena, Magnum (US), Tomahawk, Zeus, CTZ, Chinook (US), Columbus (US), Galena, and UK Target.
Nugget is frequently availabe in whole leaf hop form and in hop oil/extract form.
It is often combined with other hops and is frequently found in use with Citra®, Centennial (US), Cascade (US), Chinook (US), Summit™, Simcoe® and Crystal.
