Triple Double B48
Imperial Yeast's B48 Triple Double is a classic high gravity Belgian strain for Trappist-Style Ales, and classic Abbey Ales. It will produce moderate esters with low to no phenolic characteristics. This strain does like to sit on top of the wort throughout fermentation which may result in a slower than normal fermentation. It is also very alcohol tolerant so high gravity worts are no problem for B48 Triple Double.
If you are looking for a substitute we recommend using Imperial B63 Monastic, Wyeast Belgian High Gravity 3787, White Labs Abbey Ale WLP530, or Omega Belgian Ale W OYL028.
