Mount Hood (Mt. Hood)
Mt. Hood is a USA aroma hop that has an alpha acid of 3.9-8% and a beta acid of 5-8%. It is a sister to Liberty, Crystal and Ultra and the daughter of Hallertau Mittelfruh giving it some noble characteristics.
It has a clean bitterness. It's aromas are Refined Spicy, Moderately intense and sweet, Herbal Notes, Flowers, Green Fruit, and Pungent - but can also be described as Mild, Pleasant, Clean, Some Pungency and Resiny qualities. The mild aroma has some spicy aromatic notes of tarragon, chili, rosemary and fennel.
The flavor profile of Mount Hood is creamy caramel honey topped by floral aromas that are enhanced with subtle notes of citrus and tea.
It is a great choice for use in Lagers, Ales, Pilsners, Altbiers, Pale Lagers, Bocks, Wheat Beers, Munich Helles, German and Belgian Ales.
If you are looking for a substitute we recommend Hallertau Mittelfruh, Hallertau (US), Crystal, Liberty, French Strisselspalt, or Hersbrucker.
Mt. Hood is available in Lupulin Powder/Pellet form through brands such as Cryo-Hops and LUPOMax. It is also available in whole leaf form frequently.
