Strisselspalt (Strisselspalter)
Strisselspalt is a French aroma hop with an alpha acid of 1-4% and a beta acid of 3-6%. Occasionally you will see it named as Strisselspalter. It is one of the classical fine aromatic varities.
It has a delicate, pelasant and well balanced aroma that features spicy, citrusy, floral, fruity and herbal notes. The citrus has notes of bergamot, grapefruit and orange dominating with flavor notes ranging from cream-caramel to spicy. It can feature notes of red berries like cassis and chamomile blossom as well as tea nuances.
It is a great choice for use in Amber Ales, Blonde Ales, Bocks, Golden Ales, Pilsners, Saisons, Biere de Garde, Belgian Pale Ales, and Lagers.
If you are looking for a substitute we recommend Liberty, Hallertau Mittelfruh (GR), Crystal, Hersbrucker, or Mt. Hood.
