Newport
Newport is a USA grown bittering hop that has an alpha acid range of 10.5-17% and a beta acid range of 5.5-9.1%.
It has a high alph acid, cohumulone and myrcene content which gives a more distinct aroma than its parents, one of which is Magnum.
Newport's aromas include earth notes, citrus, wine and balsamic. It is somewhat pungent and resiny.
It makes a great addition to your Barleywines, Stouts and Ales.
You could possibly substitute Newport with Brewer's Gold (GR)/Brewer's Gold (US), Fuggle (UK), Galena, Hallertau Magnum (GR), Magnum (US) or Nugget (US)/Nugget (BC).
