Liberty is a USA grown aromatic hop with an alpha acid of 3-6.5% and a beta acid of 3-4%. Although it has also been successfuly used as a bittering hop as well. It has a Cultivar/Brand ID of 8303-117.
It is an extension of the Hallertau Family and is half sister ot Ultra, Mt. Hood and Crystal. It is actually a triploid seedling of the German Hallertau Mittelfruh.
Liberty has aromas that include noble, mild and delicate floral bouquet and spice characteristics all rounded out with some subtle citrus notes like lemon. Overall it is mild and clean with delicate herbal touches.
It is a great choice for use in German Pils, Bavarian Style Lagers, American Lagers, Kolschs, Hefeweizens, Biere de Gardes, Belgian Ales, Pilsners, Bocks, Wheats, and Lagers.
If you need a substitute we recommend Hallertauer (US), Hallertau Mittelfruh (GR), Crystal, Hallertauer Tradition, and Mt. Hood.
