Perle (GER) (Hallertau Perle)

The German Version of Perle is a dual purpose hop, that is often used as an aroma hop. It has an alpha acid of 4-9.93% and a beta acid of 2-6%. It has a Cultivar/Brand ID of 66/13/13 and is occasionally seen as Hallertau Perle. It was bred from English Northern Brewer and was released in 1978.

It has aromas of herbal notes with slightly spicy notes. There is delicate floral, fruit and mint notes that include tea, and pepper. It has a pleasant bitterness. 

Perle offers a little of everything from green fruit, citrus, and honey balanced with woody, barrique and peppery notes.

It is recommended for use in European Lagers, Cold-Fermented Beers, Belgian Beers, Pale Ales, Wheats, Kolsch, Lagers, and Pilsners.

If you are looking for a substitute we recommend Chinook (US), Cluster, Galena, or Northern Brewer (GR), Northern Brewer (US), Perle (US).
