Bramling Cross
Bramling Cross is a dual purpose hop that comes from the UK with an alpha acid of 5-9% and a beta acid of 2.2-4.5%. It has a Cultivar/Brand ID of 4/63/25.
It has aromas of cedar, green tea and sweet fruit yet it has a distinctive "American" aroma with notes of spicy black currant, loganberry and lemony citrus which is unusal in UK hop varietals. The tealike aromas of Bramling Cross are paired with vanilla, caramel and apricot jam that are all complemented by floral chrysantheum and spicy/herbal sage and deadnettle. Spicy lovage and sweet cherry with bitter grapefruit roundout the aromatic flavors of Bramling Cross.
It is recommended for use in English Style Bitters, Brown Ales, Porters, Black Ales, British Ales, Lagers, Pale Ales, and Dunkels.
If you are looking for a substitute we recommend East Kent Golding (EKG), Progress, Northern Brewer (GR), Northern Brewer (US), Perle (US), Perle (GR), Target, Northdown (UK), or Whitbread Golding Variety (WGV).
