Tettnang (US)
The US Version of Tettnang is a dual purpose hop that is primarily used as an aroma hop, it has an alpha acid of 2.5-5.5% and a beta acid of 3-5%. Genetic testing has determined that US Tettnang is genetically distinct from German Tettnanger (Tettnang). It is most likely actually a cultivar of Fuggle (UK).
It features typical noble characteristics that come across as spicy, floral and grassy.
It is recommended for use in Wheat Beers, Lagers and Pilsners.
If you are looking for a substitute we recommend Tettnanger (GER), Fuggle (UK), Santiam, Spalter Select or Spalt.
Tettnang (US) is often available in whole leaf hop form.
