Admiral is a dual purpose hop that hails from the UK. It has an alpha acid of 13-16.2% and a beta acid of 3-6.1%. You might also see Admiral referenced by its Brand ID/Cultivar ID of RH40. A Dual Purpose hop can be used throughout your boil from first additions to dry hopping.
It has a mild aroma that makes it suitable for late hop additions or even dry hopping especailly when used in conjunction with numerous other varities. It is bred from Challneger and Northdown hops.
There is a pleasant resinous hop aroma with hints of citrus (orange) and herbal flavors. It has aggressive but smooth bittering properties. There is noted green grassy flavors with nuances of fruit tea and sweet ripe kiwi that is rounded out with a refreshing citrus and versatile herbal and earthy aromas.
It is recommended for use in English Style Ales, English Style Bitters, ESBs, English IPAs, Ales, Pale Ales, American IPAs, Belgian IPAs, and Weiss Beers.
