Motueka™ (NZ)

Motueka™, which used to be known as Belgian Saaz or B Saaz, is a dual use hop from New Zealand that has an alpha acid range from 4 to 9% and a beta acid of 4-8%. It is owend by NZ Hops Ltd. and was released under the Cultivar/Brand ID of 87.14-20. It was bred as a dual pupose hop because of its balanced bitterness and new world "Noble" type aromas.

The weight of oil to alpha acids integrates it fully with higher gravity beer types to balance both the malt sweetness and body. It is extremely versatile for use in your brewing.

This hop carries exciting fruit aromas with refreshing notes of tropical fruit and citrus and can be used during any part of the brewing cycle, but especially shines in sweet, malty and fruity beers. Motueka™ has aromas that include distinctive fresh crushed citrus, mojito lime character, lively lemon and lime tones that come together with background hints of torpical fruit. There is also fresh herbal notes of basil and rosemary as well as hints of dried orchard fruit around the edges.

It is a great choice for use in IPAs, Pale Ales, Lagers, Mexican Lagers, Pilsners, Belgian Ales, European Ales, European Lagers, English Ales, Dark Lagers, Maibocks, and Ales.

If you are looking for a substitute we recommend Saaz (CZ), Saaz (US), and Sterling.

Motueka™ is frequently combined with other hops and pairs well with Citra®, Galaxy®, El Dorado®, Wai-iti™, Nelson Sauvin™, Vic Secret™.
