Azacca® is a dual purpose hop from USA that has an alpha acid of 10-16% and a beta acid of 4-6%. It is owned by the American Dwarf Hop Association and used to be known as ADHA-483. It was named for the Iwa or spirit of agriculture and farming practices.
It is a delicate hop that can be overpowered by other hops and flavors. Even though it is extremely delicate it has a refreshing aroma and flavors of mango, papaya, orange, grapefruit, lemon, pine, spice, pineapple, grassy, tropical fruit and citrus. There are green fruits of quince and gooseberry mired by sweet mango and kiwi with mint adding a fresh element. Azacca® also has notes of green tea and rose leaves that all come together to create the fruity composition of this hop.
It is recommended for use in IPAs, Pale Ales, Fruit Beers, Sours, American Style Ales and Saisons.
Azacca® is available in Lupulin Powder form via Cryo Hops and LUPOMax hops. It is also frequently available in whole hop form.
Possible substitutions of Azacca® include Amarillo® (US), Amarillo® (GR), Citra®, Delta™ (Experimental #04188) and Pekko®.
Azacca® also plays well with many hops despite its delicate nature and is frequently seen blended with Mosaic® (HBC 369), Citra®, Ekuanot® (HBC 366) (Equinox), Cascade (US), Cascade (BC), El Dorado®, and Idaho 7™.
