CTZ (which stands for Columbus, Tomahawk, Zeus) is a dual purpose hop grown in the USA, that has an alpha acid of 14-18% and a beta acid of 4.5-6%. It is also known as Columbus and Tomahawk and Zeus. Technically this is not a name of a hop but it is the name given to a trio of nearly identical or identical hops. More information can be found on the Columbus Hop Page

There is a herbal flavor with a lemon citrus note when used late in the boil. The main aromas are of black pepper, licorice, curry and subtle citrus.

It is a great choice for use in Imperial Brown Ales, Barleywines, Imperial Stouts, American Ales, American Pale Ales, IPAs, Lagers and Stouts.

If you are looking for a substitution we recommend using Zeus, Columbus (US), Columbus (BC), Tomahawk, Chinook (US), Chinook (BC), Northern Brewer (GR), Northern Brewer (US), Nugget (US), Nugget (BC), Target, Warrior, Millennium, Bullion (UK) or Bullion (US).

CTZ can be found in Lupulin Powder/Pellet form from brands such as Cryo-Hops and LUPOMax and is frequently available in hop oil/extract form.

CTZ hops play beautifully with other hop additions and are frequently seen in use with Simcoe®, Centennial (US), Centennial (BC), Amarillo® (US), Amarillo® (GR), Cascade (US) and Cascade (BC).
